Summary of Query Formulas

Summary of Query Formulas for Excel

Spreadsheet Server retrieves data from the assigned database to Excel using the following formulas:

Formula Description

GEXQ

Returns a single value from the GEXQ (summary) portion of the query to the spreadsheet. This value may be drilled down on to see the detailed results in a drill down panel or a worksheet (see GEXQ Formulas for more information).

GEXD

Inserts query detail results in the spreadsheet (see GEXD Formulas for more information).

GEXS

Opens a selector panel with the values returned from the query (see GEXS Formulas for more information).

GEXI

Opens the detail portion of the query, and displays the results in a drill down panel or a worksheet (see GEXI Formulas for more information).

Note:
Formulas available for processing are based on the user's licensed features. See GL Reporting for more information.

These formulas can be used in a spreadsheet cell in the same manner as other spreadsheet functions.

Spreadsheet Server's Formula Builder tool is used to start a spreadsheet, and to create or maintain formulas (see Build a Template for Queries and Create and Maintain Query Formulas for more information).

Setup Prior to using Query Formulas in Excel

Standard Queries

  1. Queries must exist in Query Designer or Query Exchange before they can be used in formulas in Excel. Use one of the following methods to create or add a query to Query Designer:
    • Download a query from Query Exchange (see Download Queries from Query Exchange for more information).
    • Manually create a query in Query Designer (see "Open/Create Query" in the Query Designer User Manual for more information).
  2. Prior to using a new or modified query, in Excel, from the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon, select Refresh. The system refreshes query data.

SAP Queries (SQ00)

  1. Queries must exist in the SAP database.
  2. In Application Configurator, both selected users and SAP host configurations must be set to allow the execution of SAP queries.

SAP T-Codes:

  1. Execution variants for the appropriate T-Codes must exist in the SAP database.
  2. In Application Configurator, T-Codes must be assigned to the SAP host configuration (NetCo 3.0 connection types only).
