Build a GXL with Existing Parameters

The following example demonstrates using the Overwrite with Existing Parameters option when processing a GXL formula with a new template. This option is used to insert only the formula into the desired cell, using cell references to specify, update, or create its parameterized values.

  1. In an open worksheet in Excel, from the Spreadsheet Server Ribbon, click the Formula Builder button. The Formula Builder panel appears. Select GXL.
  2. Type the appropriate ledger parameters and account segment data using the cell reference boxes and value boxes to the right of the parameter or account segment. Cell reference boxes are selected by typing the name of the cell reference, or by clicking the cell reference box, then the desired cell in your worksheet. If you select a cell reference containing a value, the value field will update to reflect that value; any further editing within the value field will update the value contained in that cell reference once the formula is inserted. If no cell reference is selected, the content of the Value field will be directly inserted as a parameter with no cell reference tied to it.
  3. Click the Insert button to insert the formula in the specified Starting Cell.
  4. Click the Close button to close the panel.
