Distribution Manager Settings
The Distribution Manager Settings allow the user to define various criteria to control processing.
Important: Spreadsheet Server does not support the new Outlook/Microsoft 365 version. You can try it at your own risk. Be aware that using the new version of Outlook may interfere with emails being sent via Distribution Manager.
- In Excel, from the Distribution Manager Ribbon, select Settings. The Distribution Manager Settings > General panel appears.
- Use the following table to enter data in the General panel, or to access other functions:

- The Distributor Add-in for Outlook must be installed for the Microsoft Outlook Exchange option to be available. If applicable, a link is available to install the component, with the ability to Run as Administrator, if necessary.
- If using SMTP, certain mail configurations may prevent the transmission of messages. Contact your IT department for assistance.
- The About panel displays insightsoftware's contact information. Click the Online Manuals link to access the online user manual.
- Click OK. The system processes the changes made in the current panel, then closes it.

Enhanced Logging |
If selected, additional logging is recorded. For optimal processing, once an error has been resolved, it is recommended to clear the log file, and unselect this option (see Distribution Manager View Log) for more information). |
Always save workbook prior to distribution |
If selected, all workbook changes are automatically saved prior to distribution. |
Consolidate Emails |
If selected, multiple specification rows for a recipient in a distribution run are combined into a single email, with multiple attachments (one for each specification row); otherwise, one email is issued per specification row. Note: This setting is ignored if the One Email for all Recipients option is selected for the specification row. |
Include Members when only the Master is selected |
If selected, and only the group master specification row is selected for distribution, the system distributes the master and all member rows. Otherwise, only selected specification rows are distributed. |
Right justify text fields |
If selected, all text fields are right-justified. |
Enable Distributor Addin for Word |
If selected, the system enables the Distributor Add-in in Word. The Distributor Add-in must be enabled in order to process Narrative Reporting through the Distribution Manager. Note: The Distributor Add-in may also be manually enabled and/or disabled in Word. |

Email Server |
Specify the email server to be used for email distributions. If SMTP is selected, additional setting options become available for input.

HTML Email |
If selected, the HTML email editor is used for the email body content. Otherwise, the plain text editor is utilized. |
Cache Address Book |
If selected, the address book is cached, to prevent long waits when loading. Note: If cached lists exist, and the user unselects the option, a prompt appears asking if the lists should be deleted. |
SMTP Options: |
If the SMTP option is selected, the following options are available for input. |
SMTP Mail Server |
Specify the SMTP mail server to be used for email distributions. |
SMTP Sent "From" Address |
Specify the from email address to be assigned to email distributions. |
SMTP Advanced Options (Optional): |
If the SMTP option is selected, if necessary, specify optional settings for the authentication account name and password, the SMTP port number, and SSL (secured socket layer) support. Note: .NET Framework 4.7 or later inherits security from the operating system, if not specifically set. Spreadsheet Server uses .NET Framework 4.8, and it is explicitly set to use TLS 1.2, or the system default. Please work with your company's IT team to set the appropriate protocol, and/or upgrade the operating system to be compatible with your SMTP server.
