Update a Query Connection

The following topic provides an overview on updating query connections.

Update All Connections

The Update All Connections panel is used to make mass revisions to the original connection assigned to queries, to a new connection.

  1. From the Query Designerribbon, select Tools > Update all query connections. The Update All Connections panel appears.
  2. Use the following table to enter data in the Update All Connections panel.

    All queries in the default folder and subfolder using the connection

    From the list of connections associated with existing queries, select the connection to be updated. The system displays the original connection in the associated drop-down list.

    Will now be updated to use the connection

    From the list of connections available for use in Query Designer, select the connection to be assigned to the queries associated with the original connection. The system displays the available connection in the associated drop-down list.

    Note: The list excludes SQL Server connections flagged as load local connections.

  4. Click Update. The system updates the appropriate queries, replacing the original connection with the new connection.

Update Connections by File

The Update Connections by File panel is used to make a revision to the original connection of a file assigned to the query, to a new connection.

  1. From the Query Designerribbon, select Tools > Update connections by file. The Update connections by file panel appears.
  2. To update a connection, select the file(s) to be updated, then, from the New Connection drop-down list, select the connection to be assigned to the queries associated with the original connection.

  3. Click Update. The system updates the appropriate files, replacing the original connection with the new connection.
