Query Designer Settings

Query Designer settings allow the user to define various criteria to control processing. This topic describes how to configure these settings.

  1. In the Query Designerribbon, select Settings from the Options drop-down list. The Settings > General panel appears.
  2. See the following table for more information about the available options in the Settings > General panel.
  3. Option

    Description

    Language

    Allows the user to switch the desired language. All menu options, headers, and tooltips will be translated to the selected language.

    Default Tab

    Allows the user to determine which tab appears by default, when the objects list is opened.

    Collapse the ribbon automatically

    Allows the user to collapse the Query Designer ribbon.

    SQL Fly-out open by default

    If selected, keeps the SQL expandable menu open for new and existing queries.

    Parameters Fly-out open by default

    If selected, keeps the Parameters expandable menu open for new and existing queries.

    Auto-Alias fields

    If selected, the field description is automatically assigned as the alias, when a field is added to a query. If a field description does not exist, the field name is assigned as the alias.

    Note: This option is not applicable to calculated fields.

    Enhanced Logging

    If selected, additional logging is recorded. For optimal processing, once an error has been resolved, it is recommended to clear the log file and unselect the option (see Query Designer View Log for more information).

    Pre-Load Queries

    Allows the user to enable or disable the pre-loading of queries every time they open the application. Pre-loading queries is the default setting.

    Limit Preview Data to nnn Records

    If selected, when the Preview Data option in the Table or Field List grid is processed, the number of values or records retrieved is limited by the number of records (nnn) specified.

  4. The About panel displays the System Information, data related to the user's system and Query Designer. To email this information to the helpdesk, click the Email System Information button. Click the Contact Us button to access the insightsoftware customer portal.
  5. Click Apply. The system processes the changes and closes the panel.
