Spreadsheet Server Setup for Platform

This topic leads you through the process of loading the Spreadsheet Server add-in and enabling the ribbon in Excel as part of the setup for Platform.

Note: Installing Spreadsheet Server for Platform as an administrator copies the files in the current user's appData/local folder and not the administrator appData/local folder. This allows users to enable the Spreadsheet Server ribbon seamlessly.

Sign in

  1. Open Excel to start Spreadsheet Server. It redirects you to a browser window to sign into Platform.
  2. Enter your email address and click Continue.
  3. Authenticate with your identity and access provider. If you are not using Federated Single Sign On, it prompts you to enter your password. If you are using Federated Single Sign On, it directs you to your organization’s sign in page.
  4. After successful authentication, a confirmation page displays.
  5. If you are using connections that require a log in, the login prompts display in Excel.
  6. The Spreadsheet Server add-in loads. If you have Spreadsheet Server set to autoload, the entire ribbon displays directly.
  7. If you do not have Spreadsheet Server set to autoload, the ribbon displays the Login button.

    Note: Depending on the login sessions, you may need to log into the Query Designer and Spreadsheet Server Control Panel as well.

    1. Click Login to verify if you are authenticated in Platform. If you are not authenticated, the Platform portal displays.
    2. After successful authentication, the Spreadsheet Server ribbon loads in Excel.
    3. Select Enable from the Disabled drop-down menu.
    4. The entire ribbon displays.

Autoload Setting

Follow these steps to enable the Autoload setting that automatically starts the Spreadsheet Server ribbon when opening Excel:

  1. In the Spreadsheet Server ribbon, click Settings > General.
  2. Under Standard Options, check the Start automatically when Excel starts box.

Sign Out

  1. Using the Start menu in your system, select Sign Out of Desktop Apps.
  2. It redirects you to the Platform portal displaying the message that you are signed out of Spreadsheet Server.
