Field List Panel

The Field List panel displays the fields included in the query, and the field attributes utilized to retrieve the data. Additionally, this panel displays information indicating how the data will be grouped, sorted, displayed, and selected.

  1. When a query is opened in Query Designer, the Field List panel appears.
  2. Use the following table to enter data in the Field List panel.
  3. Field Column

    Description

    Type

    The field type. Valid types are:

    • Text
    • Numeric
    • Date
    • Boolean
    • Binary
    • Image
    • Graphic
    • Unknown

    Alias/Field

    The field name of the source table. If an alias has been assigned to the field, it appears before the actual field name.

    Total

    Indicates how the field is grouped (totaled). This column only appears if the Toggle Totals function is enabled.

    Table

    The source table from which the field is being retrieved. For calculated fields, this field is blank.

    Sort

    Indicates whether or not to use the field for sorting, and how to sort the field. Valid values are:

    • Ascending
    • Descending
    • (Not Sorted)

    Sort Order

    Indicates the order by which the query data will be sorted. The field containing the lowest number is the first sort key.

    Shown

    Indicates whether or not the field will be visible in the query output. By default, all fields are visible. Unselecting this option for a selected field allows the field to be used as selection criteria, but not included in the query output.

    Criteria 1-6

    Selection criteria (specific values, parameters, expressions, etc.) to be used when retrieving query data. Criteria entered vertically in the same column is combined with a logical AND. Criteria entered horizontally across columns is combined with a logical OR. Click the ellipses button () associated with the appropriate field to access Expression Builder, for entering criteria expressions (see Expression Builder for more information).
