Add Image Field Type

For Access, Oracle, and SQL Server connection types, Query Designer allows for displaying images, Outlook emails, and PDFs. The images, emails, and/or PDFs must be stored in the database, using the appropriate field type definition noted below:

  • Access: OLE object
  • Oracle: BLOB (binary large object)
  • SQL Server: image

The general rules for executing a query containing an image field are:

  • When querying images, only the image field may be visible.
  • If more than one record is returned, only the image for the first record is displayed.

Add an Image Type Field to a Query

In the Query Canvas, double-click the desired field from a table, or click and drag the field to the Field List panel. The system adds the field to the Field List panel, and assigns the it the Image field alias.
