PeopleSoft (Oracle)

This article describes General Ledger application settings that apply to all users licensed to use the General Ledger feature, when using a PeopleSoft (Oracle) General Ledger type.

  1. From the Application Configurator panel, select the Application Settings tab. The Application Settings panel appears.
  2. Click the PeopleSoft (Oracle) tab.
  3. Use the following table to enter data in the PeopleSoft (Oracle) panel:

    Description

    User Name (Typically APPS)

    Specify the user name to be used to connect the database. This user must have access to all applicable PeopleSoft GL files. If necessary, a user with read-only access to the GL files may be created in the PeopleSoft database.

    Password

    Specify the user password.

    Host Name/IP Address

    Specify the server name or IP address.

    Oracle SID

    Specify the Oracle Service Name where the database is located (for example, VIS).

    Oracle Port

    Specify the port number (for example, 1521).

    Application User Name

    Specify the user ID to be used for testing authority to responsibilities and tables.

    Direct Connect

    If selected, the insightsoftware-provided direct connect option is used to access the database. Otherwise, the Host Name/IP Address, Oracle SID, and Oracle Port fields are replaced with Oracle Service Name.

    Support Unicode Characters

    If selected, code is implemented to support unicode characters for the connection.

    RAC (Real Application Clusters) Support

    If selected, the system connects to the database using the Service Name/RAC defined in the RAC Server Connection Definition field. This field is only enabled when the Direct Connect option is selected.

    Note: If this option is selected, a panel appears, allowing the user to select (highlight) the server connection to be used for RAC support. Once selected, click OK to populate the RAC Server Connection Definition field.

     

    RAC Server Connection Definition

    Specify the server connection(s) to be used for RAC support. This field is only enabled when the RAC (Real Application Clusters) Support option is selected.

    Test Configuration

    Specify the desired testing values above, then click the Test Configuration button. A message appears in the Results field, indicating whether or not the connection and the call to the tables was successful.

  5. Use the following table to enter data in the PeopleSoft (Oracle) > Files panel:

    Schema/Table Name/Description

    Displays the PeopleSoft GL files used in Spreadsheet Server. The schema may be changed if necessary.

    Displays a message in the Results field indicating whether or not the connection and the call to tables was successful.

  7. Click Save, then Yes, to push the changes to the network location.
